There is a song that says “I would move heaven and earth just to be with you,” and those words kept coming to mind during Lucas & Kim’s wedding on Monday. Two worlds joined hands for one of the most joyful and heart warming marriage celebrations we have ever witnessed. Two young working professionals left their homes and families- Lucas, Brazil and Kim, small town Arkansas- to pursue their careers and ended up finding something much, much more. One fateful October day in Dallas, Texas a first brunch date turned into an all day event, which turned into a once-in-a-lifetime love.
Lucas and Kim have moved heaven and earth to be together. Their love has transcended oceans and languages. Their intimate wedding ceremony was an emotional celebration full of tears, laughter, and surprises! A chilling cover of the song Higher Love, by James Vincent McMorrow, played softly as Kim and her daddy walked down the aisle, he whispered to her how proud he was of her, and her mom watched with beaming pride. After recent challenges, the presence of her mom on her wedding day was something Kim did not for one second take for granted. Life is short and precious, and this sweet family knows how to cherish it. Kim then surprised Lucas by sharing her vows in Portuguese! Unfortunately many of Lucas’s friends and family were not able to attend, but thanks to modern technology were able to watch via Facebook livestream!
The design of their wedding day was inspired by the couple’s love for Tuscany, Italy! If you know much about us, you know this speaks our love language 🙂 Kim and Lucas chose the Wildwood Inn in Denton, Texas for their ceremony and reception. They even found a house to rent for the morning of the wedding with a vineyard in the backyard! Every detail of the day was thoughtfully selected with Italy in mind from the venue, to the food and wine (that was some of the best bruschetta we’ve ever tasted!), to the table arrangements, to the cheese wheel cake! Yes, CHEESE! They thought of everything! The wedding party was dressed to the nines in their stunning and classic attire, and all helped make Lucas and Kim’s day a fun celebration full of belly laughs, happy tears, and long hugs.
Kim and Brittany met at the ripe young age of five years old, and spent their childhood years carpooling to school, having sleepovers, taking horseback riding lessons together, going on trips, and being together for every life event. To say it was an honor to photograph her marrying the man of her dreams is a gross understatement. Kim and Lucas, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to share your day with you and create these photographs that will help you remember this day forever. We love you and hope you have a wonderful honeymoon!
